Hello everyone. We hope this news finds you all well. We've been rather busy working lately on new material.
Plans are currently in the works for a possible fall EP; stay tuned here for more info on that as it develops.

In other news, reviews for Electromantic have been trickling in, so we thought we'd share a couple with you.
Enjoy the reading material and we'll have more news soon. Oh and by the way, no we're not Canadian.

"Collapse into Reason seems to be fighting a two-man battle against the stale servings of electronic music
drowning the underground airwaves these days. They seem to be off to a very good start with their third release.
Scott Francis has a beautiful alto-voice that he exercises incredible control over, backed by the sharp staccato
of their keyboard tracks. He has every bit of the passion of Apoptygma's vocalist, and is vaguely reminiscent
of Camouflage, without sounding like a Depeche Mode cover group. This is a fairly addictive-sounding
release that is passionate, sensual, demure, and danceable. "It all begins and ends with electricity."
- Gothic Beauty #20 (issue available at your local Hot Topic store now)

“The Canadian (???) duo of Scott Francis and Ian Reyes create an elegant mixture of catchy synthpop
and club friendly ebm, that sounds fresh and new, and not a sterile copy of what countless bands are flooding
the scene with. The vocals are smooth and hypnotic as well being strangely reminiscent of another vocalist
who I can’t put my finger on. This mixed with the quirky, dreamy electronics and enticing beats are
a sure fire winner. This will have the dance floors packed no doubt!”

Hello everyone - how have you been? Long time no speak. Sorry for the delays in updating the site, but
we've been a bit busy with "behind the scenes" work. But spring is upon us, and we're slowly coming
out of our winter hibernations. To wit, some news...

We're happy to announce that we've recently signed a licensing deal with Mtv Networks for use of the
tracks from our latest release Electromantic on their show 'My Super Sweet 16'. So if you're a fan of Mtv's
original programming, keep an ear out for the sounds of CN2R emerging from your television speakers.

When we speak of "behind the scenes" work, this is the kind of work that we're referring to. I'm sure
everyone out there understands that the music business has been in a bit of upheaval of late, and as
artists trying to operate within it, we have to explore all possible avenues for getting our music out
there to as large an audience as possible. The future is bright...

We've also been up to our necks with a bit of video production work - both for ourselves and others.
We'll have more on that in the coming weeks. Back to work it is...

Here's some news from the home front...

We're pleased to announce that America's source for synthpop, A Different Drum, has added
Electromantic to their distribution catalog. Being big fans of many of the artists they carry
makes it extremely flattering for us, and we're honored to be working with ADD.

In show news, we're taking the month of December off from live performances to enjoy the holiday season
with our friends and family. But we're going to be kicking off the new year in grand style with a performance in
Hartford, CT at the Webster Underground on Sunday, January 22nd. We'll be supporting a terrific indie electro
act from St. Louis called Femme Fatality. Check out their profile on MySpace and give them a listen.
We'll have advance tickets soon; check the tour page for when they become available.

File under "news from the extended family":
CN2R compatriots Out Out have a new cd Virtual Sound Images coming out on February 14th, 2006.
In celebration of the new disc, they have a low-res video for the first single 'Learning English In N.Y.C.'
available for free download. Go check it out. And what's up with that limited issue CN2R / Out Out split
12" vinyl single that's rumored to be in the works? Don't ask us - it's the first we've heard about it.

There's lots of exciting things coming in the year ahead.
Happy holidays everyone - we'll see you in the future.

"The show must go on."
It's a familiar refrain that we became all too familiar with on the way to our last show at The Skybar on the 3rd.
Let me explain: while making the drive up from his home in Pittsburgh, Ian's vehicle decided it couldn't make the trip.
This resulted in Ian being stranded on the side of the road for a while. After a lengthy pause, Ian was finally able to
make it back to civilization, but not in enough time to make our set in Somerville.

So this left me with an awkward decision to make: either cancel the show altogether, or perform the show solo.
It took quite a few last minute adjustments (that resulted in the overall presentation being a bit more automated than
we'd prefer) but the show did go on. Our apologies again to everyone who came to the show expecting to see a duo. But
that's life as an independent artist; we're both working stiffs who have to deal with real-world problems like our cars
breaking down at the most unfortunate of times. Hopefully those of you who made the show enjoyed my first
(and hopefully last) solo CN2R performance.

Speaking of being independent artists, please allow me the indulgence of going off on a rant for a minute.
Like I said, Ian and I both have day jobs that pay our bills, and our jobs allow us to do what we love - making music.
We don't have a record company picking up the tab for all of the bills that we run up while making our music; we release
our cd's through our own self-financed record label, Disques Blessé. It costs us far more to produce our cd's than we
make back from selling them, and we have the credit card bills to prove it. Don't misunderstand me, by no means
am I complaining about our situation as independent artists. But understand that it's a losing proposition
that we enter into willingly because we love making music and performing onstage.

Why do I mention all this? It came to our attention not too long back that a certain website was offering our new
album Electromantic for illegal download - in it's entirety, as one big continuous wav file. It took slightly more than a
month for our album to be out in the world before someone decided to pirate the entire album. That will piss you off when
you're pulling out the plastic to get your disabled car towed home from the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.

I'm not going to get into a moralistic discussion about the pro's and con's of illegal file-sharing, or the whole
"it's free promotion for the band" arguement. What I am going to say is that I hope people out there realize that by
no means are we millionaires, and that every song or album of ours that is illegally downloaded affects us more
than you think. When you download our music for free using a peer to peer service you really are taking
money out of our pockets - money that we could use to fix Ian's car, for instance.

There are a number of legal ways to obtain our music that will help us offset the costs of producing it.
Our songs are available for digital download through iTunes, MusicNet, Sony Connect, MP3Tunes, AOL Music,
Napster, Radio Free Abattoir, and many more. Digital not your thing? Want to own actual cd's? You can order cd's
directly from us through the CN2R store, or order online from DSBP, Amazon.com, or walk into any Tower Records or
Best Buy location and they'll be able to place an order for you. All of these companies have partnered with independent
artists to share interesting new music with you - and the artists they sell benefit directly from every purchase.

Thanks for listening, and thanks to everyone who really supports independent music.

Autumn in New England; the trees are waves of orange and red, and there's a slight chill in the air.
It's our favorite time of year, and Halloween makes the season even better. We hope everyone
had a sufficiently spooky Samhain. Let's get on to the news then, yes?

Our recent show in Charlottesville was simply amazing. It was a pleasure meeting so many wonderful
people, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Thanks go out to Chad from The Dawning for being
such a gracious host, and Gabe from Hindu Pez for sharing the stage with us - good people all.
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and he will be bringing you another visit from CN2R soon.

Speaking of shows, don't forget that we'll be performing at The Skybar in Somerville, MA, this Thursday,
November 3rd. We haven't been out to the Boston area since supporting Letters Never Sent,
and we're looking forward to catching up with everyone.

That's all for now; we'll talk more soon. Until then...

· 14 October 2005 ·

Here's some quick news for everyone. First up, we're pleased to announce the addition
of Electromantic to the Radio Free Abattoir online audio and digital download service. You
can purchase all Electromantic tracks individually or the album as a whole from RFA.

We're also pleased to report that Electromantic has been added to the distribution catalog
of DSBP Records. We'll have more information on that in the coming weeks.

But right now we have to hit the road for Virginia. We hope to meet as many of you as possible
at this weekend's show in Charlottesville at The Dawning. More to come, so stay tuned...

· 27 September 2005 ·

Thanks to everyone who made it down to the Webster Theater in Hartford, CT on Saturday to
catch our set at Goth Stock. It was a pleasure finally being able to share Electromantic live,
and it was an even greater pleasure seeing some familiar faces in the crowd.

It was a whirlwind weekend; we made some new friends and had the chance to see some incredible
sets from some amazing bands (Combichrist, Sister Kill Cycle, and Butcherpriest immediately
come to mind). Thanks again to all the staff for making the festival such an event to remember.

Couldn't make it down to Hartford for the show? We've added some live photos
taken this weekend to the media page; go see what you missed.

Speaking of things you might have missed, the article that ran in the Hartford Courant about
Goth Stock that featured an interview with CN2R's own Scott Francis can be found here.

Next up on the horizon: Virginia. Full details can be found on the tour page. See you then.

· 17 September 2005 ·

It's been a busy month; we're making final preparations for our return to the stage.
The tour is taking shape with confirmed stops in Connecticut, Virginia,
and Massachusetts so far, with a slew of other dates in the works.

In album news, Electromantic is now available for online ordering through CDBaby.com.
And don't forget about the huge merch sale going on here at the CN2R store.

Still more to do, so back to work for us. See you next weekend at Goth Stock.

As you all know we have a new album coming out, and that means lots of boxes full of shiny, shrink-wrapped
cd's. There's also new t-shirts in the works, and that will mean even more boxes. But we only have so much
room to store great big boxes of cd's and t-shirts! In the interest of clearing out some room in our storage
space for new merchandise, we need to clear out some of the old merchandise, so...

...for a limited time only, all t-shirts and beaters are on sale for only
$5.00 USD each - and don't forget there's free shipping on every order!

Visit the CN2R store now to take advantage of our need for more storage space!

Hello everyone. Sorry that we haven't been in touch since May, but the last
month has been extremely hectic. What have we been up to you ask?
Well on to the news...

We're happy to report that as you read this, Electromantic is now being duplicated. Yes, after
months of hard but enjoyable work, the final step in the creation of our new CD is finally underway.
Over the past few months we've been working night and day on the album artwork, trying to ensure
that the visual impact of the CD packaging suited the overall feel of the audio tracks. We think that
we've pulled it off, but why don't you judge it for yourselves. Here it is, the cover of our new release...

So there it is. Copies of the new CD are being made in Canada, and we should have a projected
release date for you very soon. As always, we'll post more information as soon as we have it.

In web news, our back catalog is now available for digital download through iTunes, so go fill up your iPod!

In music news, we've recently completed remixing a track for our friends Circus Of Dead Squirrels.
'Death Saves The Derelict [Sex Slaves The Heretic Mix by Collapse into Reason]'
will be appearing
on the CODS remix disc, Outdoor Recess, set for an October release. Also contributing remixes to the
disc will be Out Out, Veincage, Mark Alan Miller, H_Tech, Microwaved, Tragedie Ann &
Intricate Unit, among others. Pick up a copy when it comes out!

"In show news..." You've been waiting a while to hear that one now haven't you? Well the wait is almost over.
That's right people, the finished disc is almost in our hands, the multimedia work is almost complete, and that
means it's almost time for us to hit the stage and perform. We're starting to put together touring plans for late
summer / early fall, and right now we have one date that we're extremely excited to share with you. We've been
booked to appear at Goth Stock along with The Crüxshadows, Bella Morte, Ego Likeness, Genitorturers,
The Last Dance, Carfax Abbey, Anders Manga, Seraphim Shock, DJ Ian Fford, and many, many, more.
This is a two-day festival that will be held on Saturday & Sunday, September 24th - 25th. The show is all ages
and runs from noon until 2 AM both days. Tickets are $35 for a single day pass or $50 for a two day pass,
and can be purchased through tickets.com or at the Webster box office. We'll be performing on The Goth
Stock stage (in the Webster Theater
, not the Webster Underground) on the 24th, and we'll be going on
early in the day, so make sure you get there on time. We hope to see you all there!

Well that's all the news that's fit to print; check back soon for more updates.
Cheers,
Scott & Ian

What day would be more appropriate than Friday the 13th for 'My Revenant'
to be picked as "Electronic Track Of The Day" at Garageband.com?
We can't think of a better day either...

In album news, work is steadily progressing on the artwork for Electromantic.
We're hoping to have the new album ready for release by late spring/early summer.
Stay tuned here at CN2R.com for a sneak peek of the album art!

Seeing as work on the new album is nearing completion, our primary focus of late has
been finishing up production on the live video footage we've incorporated into our stage show.
The new live show promises to be an event not to miss, and we can't wait to get out and
start performing for you all again!

In web news, we've recently gotten the ball rolling on digital distribution of the CN2R catalog.
Our second album, Letters Never Sent, is now available for digital download from MP3Tunes.com,
which is just the first of many digital download sites (such as Apple iTunes, MusicMatch, MusicNet,
MSN Music, Napster, Rhapsody, Sony Connect, etc.) that will be carrying the CN2R catalog very soon.

Our last bit of news this month directly involves you, as we could really use your help.

There's an upcoming festival in New Haven, CT on August 5th - 7th 2005 called the Black Sun
Goth Festival
. It's featuring performances by Bella Morte, Das Ich, Decoded Feedback, Dismantled,
Iris, & Razed In Black. They currently have two open slots for bands to fill, and are looking for feedback
from the general public on who they should book. We'd love the opportunity to be included in the festival,
so if you could take a minute and visit the forum for the event to let them know that CN2R
would be a welcome addition to the event line-up we'd be forever indebted.

We'd really appreciate your show of support by helping to get CN2R added to the festival line-up.

Thanks,
Scott & Ian

This past Wednesday we descended on Peerless Mastering in Newtonville, MA, to master Electromantic.
Mastering is the final crucial step in the making of a record; no matter how much work you put into production,
or how much effort you put into mixdown, mastering can make or break you. We put a lot of thought into where
and with who we wanted to have the new disc mastered, and ultimately we decided that we wanted to have
the new album mastered at Peerless with engineer Jeff Lipton. That name might sound familiar to some
of you, as Jeff mastered our first album. We were really happy with the way that record came out,
and after having heard some work he's done lately (namely the new 2 CD Out Out retrospective
1989-1999: "Hasten the Burning...") we knew that Jeff was the right pair of ears for the job.

It was a long day fueled by many trips to Dunkin' Donuts (as evidenced by the photo below) but we managed
to leave Newtonville at 2 a.m. with blurry eyes and a completed album. Many thanks to Jeff Lipton for juggling
his schedule to squeeze us in and keep us on our schedule, and to co-producer, recording engineer and mixer
extraordinaire Mark Alan Miller for coming along to sort stems and lend his invaluable ears to the process.

Next up: album art, but we'll talk more about that later.

In the meantime, as always, enjoy some behind the scenes photos, and
go listen to three freshly mastered tracks on our MySpace Music page.

We kicked off the new year by reconvening at Slaughterhouse on the
9th to begin the final mix of Electromantic. We had some last minute
edits to make but we did ultimately manage to get the final
mixes done, on time and within budget no less.

So now that we've finished mixing the tracks, is the album finished?

Unfortunately no, there's much more work yet to be done.
Next up is mastering the disc - but more on that later.
In the meantime, we've posted a couple of the final mixes
on our MySpace Music page for your listening pleasure.

We'll leave you with another candid shot from the studio.

· 31 December 2004 ·

After months of work, we're relieved to announce that we've finished recording Electromantic.
We'll be kicking things off in 2005 by reconvening at Slaughterhouse on January 9th to begin
the final mixdown of the new album. The work isn't done yet, but we are getting closer.

We'll talk more next year.
Happy New Year everyone.

· 25 December 2004 ·

How quickly the time passes; it seems like only yesterday that we began talking about "the next album".
Fast forward a few months, and we find ourselves on the verge of having Electromantic complete. The new album is
finished, save for one last vocal session. We're bringing in a female vocalist next week to do a guest spot on the disc.
It's another idea we've been kicking around for quite a while that is finally going to come to fruition. So that's all the
work that remains to be done, and then we move on to mixing in early January 2005.

We'll leave you with another candid shot from this past weeks' sessions,
and wish you all a Happy Chrismahanukwanzakah.

Tracking for the new album Electromantic is moving at a brisk pace. Having completed work on the first half of
production at The Butcher Shop in Pittsburgh, PA, we've moved on to the second half of production; namely recording
vocal tracks at Slaughterhouse Recording Studio, Hadley, MA. The count so far stands at ten songs completed (some
of the new song titles include 'The Day Forever Changed', ' My Revenant', 'Another Walking Wounded', & 'The Exile')
with two songs remaining to track vocals for. If everything goes according to plan (which we hope it will) production
should be finished before the coming holidays, with final mixing of the album scheduled for early January,
mastering in February, and duplication soon thereafter.

We've had a number of inquiries of late concerning when we'll be performing live again. To answer them all here at
once, we don't anticipate booking any new shows until after Electromantic is back from duplication. Why such a
long hiatus? When we do return to the stage, along with the new material, we'll be unveiling a new video projection
system as well. The concept has always intrigued us, and we've finally been able to fully explore the idea.
Consequently though, making the concept a reality involves an enormous amount of work. So while we've been
devoting a large portion of our time to audio production over the last few months, now that the album is nearing
completion, a large portion of our time over the next few months will be spent on video production.
We think the wait will be well worth it, and hopefully you will too.

In other news, our entire CD catalogue is now available for ordering through tower.com,
the online arm of Tower Records, the largest retailer of independent music on the web.

That'll do it for now; we'll have another update soon.
In the meantime enjoy the candid studio photos below.
Happy holidays everyone.

Hello! We've been keeping ourselves quite busy over the last thirty days.
Work on the new album, Electromantic is steadily progressing, and so
far, we appear to be right on schedule with three tracks nearing completion.

have been posted on our MySpace Music site. So point your browser to

We will be taking a brief hiatus from live performances
while finishing up work on the new album; in the interim,
check back for all of the latest updates from the studio.
